February 14, 2018

The Adirondack Trust Company announced today that it has promoted Matthew D’Abate to President of the company’s insurance division, Amsure and Senior Vice President of the bank. Mr. D’Abate’s predecessor, Gene Quirk, who has been with the Adirondack Trust Company for over 15 years, has retired as President of Amsure but will remain with the company as a consultant until the end of the year.

“Matt brings to this position many years of banking and insurance experience,” said President and CEO, Stephan von Schenk, “which, when coupled with his continued commitment to our clients, will ensure that Amsure continues to grow as a nationally recognized leader in the insurance and risk management area.”

Mr. D’Abate joined the Adirondack Trust Company in 1996 and held a variety of Retail Banking Management positions until 2003, when he began working with Gene Quirk and the newly formed Adirondack Trust Insurance Agency.   Over the past 15 years, Adirondack Trust Insurance Agency (now known as Amsure) has grown in to one of the largest and most well-respected insurance agencies in the Capital District.  Throughout that that time, Mr. D’Abate has assumed a number of leadership positions.  His most recent role was as the manager of Commercial Insurance for Amsure.

In addition, he has earned the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation.
